Coach 1: Bamboo Manalac

Francisco Manalac, more popularly known as BAMBOO, is one of the most established rock singers in the country. He used to be the lead vocalist of the legendary rock band Rivermaya and later, an equally popular band named after him, Bamboo. He is the voice behind OPM hit songs such as "214", "Kisapmata", "Elesi" and "Noypi". After his band, "Bamboo" disbanded, he went solo and is now part of the ASAP Sessionistas, a group of singers, regularly performing in the Sunday noontime show, ASAP 18.

Bamboo's long and diverse experience as a musician makes him a worthy inclusion as one of the coaches of The Voice of the Philippines. His passion for singing and music in general, which is noticeable in his every performance, would certainly help the artists who would be included in his team (Team Bamboo.) For starters, he gives an important tip to The Voice contestants. He tells them to be original! For him to easily notice a potential team member, the person should interpret a song as if it were his/her own, and not simply copy the style of the original singer.

Bamboo gives a "sample" of the quality of "voice" he might be looking for. This very simple performance just goes to show how deserving he is to be one of the coaches of The Voice of the Philippines. The video is taken from The Buzz where he and V reporters Robi Domingo and Alex Gonzaga were guests a week prior to the airing of the show.
